Can I get a jump?

Last weekend, Miata Guy and I met up with Dick at Brown County State Park, Indiana's largest state park and one of the US's best kept mountain biking secrets. The park offers around 20+ miles of trails for the beginner to advance rider, and Dick pulled Miata Guy along on almost all of them. Even though, this was Miata Guy's second time mountain biking, he still set the trails a blaze, close behind Dick.

Over the course of Friday night and Saturday, Dick streamed some bluegrass music from his car radio. What didn't cross our minds until Saturday night, (perhaps alcohol induced) is we should have occasionally ran the car's engine to recharge the battery before it died. Dick finally checked to see if he could start his car and was quickly heart broken by the attempt. Miata Guy says "No worries, we can listen to the game from my car"! At halftime it was apparent our team's lack of skill would need more than a pot full of luck to have even a glimmer of a chance of winning. Miata Guy discovered when turn off his car that left the fan blower going. Oh no, another dead battery! Deciding to deal with the dead batteries in the morning, we went to bed.

All of the next morning, Dick and Miata Guy tried to come up with plans of how to get the cars jumped, with ideas ranging from pushing Miata Guy's car to another camp site to moving our tent in front of Dick's car. If anybody showed up to jump one person's car, they would immediately ask why the other car could not be used to jump the car in question and the duo would have to tell the whole story about the bluegrass music, the Purdue (Irish) game, the mistake of not re-charging each vehicle, and the heater blower that was left on.

Miata Guy flagging down the next vehicle that passes
Finally Miata Guy said, "Screw it", grabbed his jumper cables, and flagged down the first vehicle that passed. The women inside, who was wrapped with a couple of blankets, seemed relieved that this Samaritan act would not require her from leaving the warmth's of her vehicle.

Luckily, she didn't notice that the duo each had a dead battery. Lucky fools! The jump worked, and a second jump was done on the next car from the freshly jumped auto.
The good Samaritan
I believe that Miata Guy and Dick will learn from this experience, but who knows? They each seemed to have a good time laughing and teasing each other so much, they just may let it happen to them all over again, just for the laughs.

I miss my people

I love my job, don't get me wrong, but second shift is really taking a toll on me. Mainly because, I miss my people. When I am home, my people are at work or school, and when I head to work my people are coming home. I miss being able to talk to my people and share my joys and frustrations in life. I miss cooking dinner with Miata Guy and our conversations we shared over those dinners. I miss going on bicycle rides. Yes, I know I could go riding during the day by myself, however I have this great fear of being hit by a car and left for dead until someone spotted me. I miss cooking dinner for my people or going out to eat with my people. I miss Miata Guy. I miss my mermaid luver. I miss my tree hugger. I miss my people, for I feel so alone without them.
